Ana Ibarra and Christopher Fernandez Prada had the opportunity to meet fellow Canadian parasitologists during the Canadian Parasitology Network congress CPN24, which took place in Banff from 25-28 April. Ana presented part of her work on cross-resistance of Sodium stibogluconate and methotrexate in wildtype Leishmania infantum.

PRIX COUP DE COEUR PRÉSENTATION
March 21st, 2024
During the FMV research week, Audrey Corbeil (PhD student) received the Coup de Cœur prize for the best oral presentation. Her talk titled "Empaquetage préférentiel des vésicules extracellulaires chez Leishmania infantum dans le contexte de la résistance à l'antimoine" stood out.
Additionally, Ana Ibarra Meneses (Postdoctoral Fellow) presented her project titled "Exploring Leishmania metabolism to outsmart drug resistance", while Rafael Fernandes Ferreira showcased his project titled "Interaction hôte-parasite dans le contexte de la résistance de Leishmania spp. aux antimoniaux" in poster format. Francesca Theoret and Max Adriá (MSc students) participated in the "My Project in 180 Seconds" competition.
ACERCA ASSOCIATION LAUNCHING

Last December 13th was held in Montreal the launching of the Association of Spanish Scientists Resident in Canada, ACERCA, where the Spanish Ambassador to Canada, Alejandro Martínez Serrano, the former astronaut and former Minister of Science and Innovation of Spain, Pedro Duque, and the Vice-Rector of Research of the University of Montréal, Yves Joanette, were present. It was a great netwoking occasion for Christopher Fernández Prada and Aida Mínguez Menéndez to meet other Spanish researchers and members of the industry.

Several members of the CFP lab helped organize the first-ever St-Hyacinthe chapter of Pint of Science, a worldwide popular science festival. Christopher Fernandez Prada presented on the topic of playing "hide and seek" with parasites.

Noélie Douanne was awarded the Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole prize. Chloé Rosa-Teijeiro was featured on the Dean's List and won the Boehringer-Ingelheim and Dr Serge Larivière awards. Wilmer Martinez was awarded the Zoetis prize for his MSc project. Victoria Wagner was featured on the Dean's list.
