Researcher in Public Health at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz in Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil – Fiocruz Minas, Dr. do Monte spent three months in Dr. Christopher Fernendez-Prada group where he was dedicated to:

Develop coccidiosis and leishmaniasis diagnostic tests based on isothermal amplification (LAMP – loop-mediated isothermal amplification.

Study the mode of action of gold-based compounds as antileishmanial metallodrugs using proteomics, in collaboration with Dr. Francis Beaudry – FMV/UdeM.

As a consultant for the 3D printing platform at CFP-Lab. He also had a central diplomatic role starting the discussions on the bilateral agreements between Fiocruz and FMV/UdeM.
During his stay, Dr. Rubens gave three talks, where he presented part of the work he coordinated in Brazil related to diagnosis, drug discovery and vaccine development against leishmaniasis.
